Overview

Chinese for Travel is a Mandarin learning app for people traveling to China. You can use it without creating an account. This policy explains what stays on your device, what our services receive and how to request deletion.

Learning data on your device

Your lesson progress, review schedule, seals, saved phrases, trip date and cities, allergy and diet selections, hotel addresses and settings are stored on your device. Your travel cards and trip details are not included in usage analytics. Deleting the app removes its local data, subject to any backups managed by your device. Clear learning progress in Settings resets your learning history.

Usage data we receive

The app sends an anonymous installation identifier, usage events and app context to our service hosted on Cloudflare. Events include lessons and reviews started or finished, screens viewed, purchase attempts and plan types, and ad interactions. Context includes the app version, operating platform and app language. The installation identifier is stored on our server in hashed form; it is not your name, email address, Apple ID or Google account. Cloudflare derives your country from the network connection to select regional service and advertising settings. Our application database does not store your IP address. We use these records to operate the service, understand usage, investigate faults and improve the app. We do not sell this data or use it to build advertising profiles.

Retention and deletion

Our usage-event retention is configured for 180 days. Activity records and inactive installation records that are not linked to purchase entitlements are removed after 400 days. Purchase-related records are kept separately as needed to verify and restore access. In Settings, Delete my data requests deletion of the usage data associated with your current installation and resets its anonymous identifier. Your local learning progress and store purchases remain. Later use can create new usage records under the new identifier. Support feedback is handled separately, as described below.

Feedback and support

If you choose to send feedback, our support service receives your message, rating, any screenshots you attach, app and operating-system version, platform, language, country and an anonymous support reference. We use this information to respond and improve the app. Feedback remains in our support records until you request its deletion or we remove it as part of support administration; it is not covered by the 180-day usage-event cleanup. Do not include sensitive information in a screenshot or message. To request deletion of feedback or ask about other data, email smile@thinksview.com and provide your support reference when available.

Microphone and speech recognition

Speaking practice requests microphone and speech-recognition permissions when you choose to use it. Your operating system or its speech service processes speech to recognize what you say and may process it online under its own terms. We do not operate a voice-recording server or store your voice recordings. You can revoke these permissions in device settings.

Advertising

Free users may see Google AdMob banners, full-screen ads after a completed lesson, review or side trip, and optional rewarded ads. The number of full-screen ads per day depends on your region and service settings. AdMob and its partners may process device identifiers, approximate location, ad interactions and diagnostics under their own policies. Where applicable, Google’s consent form lets you choose advertising preferences; you can revisit these in Settings. On iOS, tracking requires the separate system permission. Premium, including an active trial or Trip Pass, removes in-app ads.

Purchases

Apple App Store or Google Play processes payments. We do not receive your payment-card details. Store transaction and verification information may be used to grant, verify and restore Premium access. A yearly plan renews automatically unless canceled through your store account. The Trip Pass grants 60 days of Premium and does not renew. Lifetime access is a one-time purchase. Existing weekly subscriptions can continue renewing until canceled. The store shows the current price, any trial and billing terms before confirmation.

Third-party services

The app uses Apple App Store or Google Play, Google AdMob and its consent platform, Cloudflare and platform speech services. These providers process information under their own privacy policies. Learn more about Google’s partner-site and advertising practices at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Cloudflare’s privacy policy at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

Children

Chinese for Travel is intended for adults traveling to China and is not directed at children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information through the app.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the app or its services change. The date above identifies this version. For privacy questions, access or deletion requests, contact smile@thinksview.com.
